ACVS is aware of Diplomates’ concerns about the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) plan to form an orthopedic surgery fellowship program.
ACVS sent a letter to the American Board of Veterinary Specialties (ABVS), which has oversight of Recognized Veterinary Specialty Organizations (RSVO), including ACVS and ABVP, asking it to adopt fellowship oversight policies that are consistent with their recognition of RVSOs. ABVS does not recognize duplicate or redundant RVSOs.
ABVS has acknowledged ACVS’s request, is taking the College’s concerns into consideration, and will discuss this issue at its March board meeting.
ACVS will inform Diplomates of the outcome of the discussion in future issues of Cut to the Point.
