Honored Mentor
Alan J. Nixon (Deceased)
BVSc, MS, DACVS
Dr. Nixon's contributions to our profession have gone far beyond just helping our patients. He has perfected surgical techniques and concepts that have been embraced by our MD counterparts and applied to people. He accepts nothing less than perfection in everything he does and has been an inspiring example of determination, hard work, and dedication. He also has a lot of fun along the way! Talented, compassionate and fun-loving, I am honored to have had him as a mentor throughout my career.

We are blessed with residents and graduate students so much better than ourselves. Give them the basics, the value of passion for their work and an inquisitive mindset, and the goal of excellence, and you have the leaders of tomorrow. I’m humbled by this honor, thrilled to have been a part of their training, and proud to see them continue to push the envelope in the art and science of surgery.
