Gerald H. Hankes

By the time Gerry Hankes was our mentor, there wasn’t much he hadn’t seen or done in small animal surgery. That kind of experience can’t be replicated except with time. The calmness and confidence with which he mentored allowed “we young surgeons” to push our boundaries with confidence. Confidence that Gerry could pull us out of the fire should we go astray. Imagine being taught nearly every case by doing, rather than observing, and you will gain some insight at how beneficial Gerry was to our respective educations. We are forever indebted to his guidance.
