Honored Mentor
Ann L. Johnson
DVM, MS, DACVS
Dr. Ann Johnson was a key mentor during my surgical residency training. She pushed me to be the best that I could be and always held me to the highest standard possible. Thanks to her, I am a better orthopedic surgeon. She taught me to ‘Go big, or go home!’ and that has kept me out of trouble on many occasions. Thanks to her, I am also a lifetime member of the ‘Save the Hip Society’.

The most challenging and simultaneously rewarding part of my academic surgical career was working with residents who were often a complex blend of wanting guidance, yet confident in their ability to solo on procedures and case management. My greatest reward came from supporting the growth of this independence over their three years and watching these residents achieve board certification and establish a career in veterinary surgery.
