Dr. Mark Markel is a strong, capable and caring mentor who takes great pride in his trainees. While expectations were high, hard work and accomplishments were always acknowledged. He made it possible for me to find my strengths and grow as a scientist and surgeon. The diversity among his trainees gives some idea about how flexible and supportive he is as a mentor. I have been fortunate throughout my career to have worked with many outstanding ACVS residents. I am immensely proud of all that they have accomplished in their careers. I consider myself extremely fortunate for the career that I chose. I am grateful for the many individuals in ACVS who made my life that much richer.
