Veterinary Surgery now accepts concensus statements, technical notes, and surgical tips in clips

Veterinary Surgery has expanded its list of accepted article types to include three new article types as described below. Instructions for each article type are included in the newly revised Author Guidelines.

  • Consensus statements provide the veterinary community with up-to-date information or best practices related to the diagnosis and treatment of veterinary surgical diseases. These statements are developed by an independent panel of experts convened to review the literature in an evidence-based manner whenever possible. The panel may share expert opinions but should offer interpretive comments when evidence is inadequate or contradictory.
  • Technical notes provide updates to previously published research, reporting additional controls; projects that did not yield publishable results but provide valuable information regarding protocol and data collection (pilot projects); additions to established tools or experimental or computational methods; modification of an existing technique, procedure, or device; new algorithm or computational method; or an improved version of an experimental protocol or previously validated clinical procedure.
  • Surgical tips in clips describe validated procedures through text and videos. Emphasis is placed on practical tips and evidence-based recommendations to improve outcomes.

Later in 2025, authors will submit their manuscripts to the journal using Wiley’s new platform, Research Exchange, which supports submission, review, and publication workflows. The Research Exchange Knowledge Hub provides an introduction to its submission, screening, and peer review modules.
